Defendant in machete attack to seek medical treatment in Hawaii

Franklin S. Crisostomo has filed a waiver of his right to speedy and public trial.

Manglona also granted Crisostomo’s motion for bail modification filed by his attorney Brien Sers Nicholas, releasing the defendant’s passport.

Crisostomo is facing charges of assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief, disturbing the peace, criminal contempt of court, and violating an order of protection.

The Attorney General’s Office said Crisostomo attacked Thomas Asack on Jan. 31, 2010 using a machete.

Crisostomo denied the charge.
