Gas supply arrives on Tinian

He said they did not receive reports about any major incident resulting from the gasoline shortage over the weekend.

The Department of Public Safety was able to operate based on its available gasoline allocation, he added.

Mobil Oil Mariana Islands Inc. bulk plant supervisor Miquel Diches said the oil tanker arrived yesterday morning and they were able to deliver supplies to the gasoline stations on Tinian.

A representative of SN Five Gas Station, one of the three stations on Tinian, said they acquired 1,700 gallons for supply good for one week.

“Our customers are starting to come in for gas,” said the employee who declined to be identified.

Mobil also informed Tinian that its oil tanker will return after one month as the company assured its clients that there will be a sufficient supply of gasoline, the employee added.

Starting on Friday, Tinian experienced a gasoline shortage after the arrival of the ship carrying its supply was delayed due to bad weather conditions and port congestion in Pohnpei.
