Library schedule changed during summer

Mary Arius, PP librarian said the new schedule started in June up to the second week of August and it will be from 8 a.m. to 5p.m. However, the 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. regular schedule will resume on August 16, when the new school year starts.

The PPL has 12,000 different books excluding newspapers and magazines. There are also two computers available for internet access.

She said that even if it is school vacation, students are still coming in to the library to read books and use computers.

Arius said some of the PPL books are donated from the United States and others are from the locals. Recently, the United States donated several boxes of books for the library.

“Before the PPL has earmarked to purchase books but the Ministry of Education has not enough budget to buy needs of the library.” Arius said in an interview.

Meanwhile, there are 133 applicants who obtained library cards.

“Since we started giving library card for free in January 5 and until now we have 133 applicants.” Arius said.

This card is used by the applicant in borrowing books and using computer.

The card is free for the locals, however for the tourists, the fee $10 and this can only be used for three months.
