To raise funds, she and Beri will hold “A Dollar Concert for a Cause” at the American Memorial Park Amphitheater from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. this Saturday.
Their son Dhen, Patz and Badjohe, Mary Anne Alovera, and the Past and Present Syndicate Band will also perform.
Ronnie Doca, president of the Pilipino Contract Workers Association, is requesting members of the community to attend the concert and help Violy.
“Despite her sickness, we can see still Violy smiling at us, quietly enduring the pain that she is suffering,” Doca said.
He said the couple launched a fundraising campaign last year but did not raise enough money.
“We hope that it won’t be late because the tumor that was found is already 5 cms. and reddish fluid is already starting to come out of her breast,” he added.
Doca said Violy has been in need of immediate medical attention since last year.
He said Violy flew to the Philippines on Aug. 15 through the help of Ofel Atalig who helped pay for the plane ticket.
However, Violy still needs money for her medication, Doca added.
“And she needs an operation as soon as possible,” he said.
Rabby Syed, United Workers Movement NMI president, is also urging members of the community to support the fundraising drive.
For donations, contact Rabby Syed at 285-3306; Ronnie Doca, 285-925; Walden Beri, 286-6185; Cathlyn Beri, 286-6368; or Dhen, 286-4171.
