“We have not been informed of any plans to restore the direct flights from Saipan to Manila yet,” Continental Micronesia Saipan city manager Rella Kretzers said during the launching of Continental’s Mobile Boarding Pass last week.
She said CNMI passengers headed to Manila will have to continue to take Continental Airlines flights via Guam.
The airline’s direct flights from Saipan to Manila were terminated in 2008 due to low customer demand and low sales of airline seats in the Philippine capital. It has affected not only the Filipino workers in the CNMI but also local residents who need immediate medical care in Manila.
