Learn to sail a traditional Chamorro proa

(500 Sails) — For thousands of years, our Chamorro and Micronesian ancestors bravely navigated the Pacific in their iconic proas, connecting our islands through masterful sailing. This isn’t just an old skill; it’s a living legacy that strengthens our cultural identity and teaches us profound respect for the ocean. The Lalayak Program invites you to become part of this vital tradition, ensuring the wisdom of our seafaring past sails confidently into the future.

This program is a truly transformative journey beyond just sailing. You’ll grow in incredible ways: mastering teamwork and leadership, feeling deep cultural pride, sharpening your problem-solving and adaptability, forging profound environmental stewardship, building unwavering resilience and self-reliance, and embracing the discipline and patience crucial for any journey. It’s an opportunity to truly discover your capabilities and emerge with a deeper sense of self and purpose that you’ll carry with you long after the waves settle.
