As an avid walker, myself and many others, are very concerned about our safety. I am not sure if there has been a law that was implemented regarding this issue, but if there is none, I suggest that our lawmakers consider this serious issue.
My suggestion is to have our lawmakers implement laws that restrict bikers off the pathway. At any given moment, bikers can strike joggers, walkers, or children on the pathway. This new law will prevent anyone from getting or killed. Our lawmakers should not wait for an incident like this to happen; we should prevent and not wait. This is my opinion and concern.
I believe it will also be beneficial to the safety of bikers.
Another concern I have is an issue that is located at the Smiling Cove Marina, just north of the Puerto Rico dump, which is a very isolated area. Someone can easily hide in the bushes and attack walkers, joggers, and especially women. It is most dangerous when there is no more light and the place is almost completely dark. To prevent issues such as this, the government should put up fencing along the side of this pathway until the north of the old dumping area. This method would also prevent people from capturing land crabs.
My brothers and sisters of the commonwealth, are there any people that have opinions and concerns similar to these? I encourage you to write a letter to the editor to voice your opinions.
My overall point is safety for the people. Let us prevent anything bad from happening, before it is too late.
