NMC acting interim President Bobbie Merfalen said Dr. Patrick Moran will be a great asset to the college.
“Dr. Moran brings an impressive combination of proven administrative experience and strong academic achievement,” she said.
Moran, she added, is well-acquainted with the School of Education and the opportunities and challenges that lie before it.
“I’ve no doubt that he will hit the ground running,” she said.
Moran will lead the School of Education by ensuring the academic integrity of all educational programs, NMC said.
He is also expected to heighten the professional development of School of Education faculty and staff, and oversee its fiscal well-being.
“I’m extremely honored to be named to this new post,” Moran said.
“The School of Education is filled with outstanding faculty, dedicated staff, and talented students,” he added. “I’m excited to be working with all of them again.”
Moran was an instructor of the School of Education and served as acting dean for Academic Programs and Services.
As an instructor, he taught classes in the area of special education.
Before working for NMC, Moran had accumulated more than 20 years of experience working in various professional capacities.
NMC said Moran also worked as a regional director of the Office of Special Education for the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction.
He also worked as associate director and associate professor for the North Dakota Center for Person with Disabilities at Minot State University.
Moran also worked at the University of Alaska in Anchorage, where he served as a director of research and evaluation and associate professor, and at the University of Washington, where he worked as an assistant professor.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the State College at Potsdam in Potsdam, New York. He later graduated with his master of arts degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He received his doctorate degree in education from the University of Washington.
