Teenager’s Disneyland vacation wish comes true

The envelope contained an airline e-ticket, instructions and a whole week’s itinerary and schedule of activities for Reyes and her family.

Reyes, her parents and her sister were scheduled to fly to Florida yesterday morning.

During the presentation dinner at the China House Restaurant on Friday, Reyes said she was very excited to meet her favorite Disneyland characters.

It will be a week filled with activities for Reyes and her family, with the first stop at the House of Hearts where they will be given an overview of the activities for the whole week. All meals are complimentary, including those from the ice cream palace and pizza deliveries.

Reyes will be treated to the World’s Largest Candy Land Game at Matthew’s Boundless Playground. She will join a Twinkle Hope’s Tea Party in the Castle of Miracles and the Village After Dark teen party in Julie’s Safari Theatre.

She will experience Discovery Cove Animal Exploration, carriage rides, winter wonderland parade, party with the pirates and princesses with Shamu and friends.

She will also have the chance to pose for photos with Disney, Nickelodeon and Universal Orlando characters.

Activities for the last day include horseback riding, the movie “The Big Surprise” and Mayor Clayton’s birthday party on the Avenue of Angels.

Reyes said she will also have the chance to meet her two older brothers, one of whom just came back from deployment in Afghanistan.

Make-a-Wish Foundation Saipan chapter board member Desirae Herrera said Reyes’ Give Kids the World Vacation starts the moment she arrives at the airport in Orlando International Airport.

“From the moment the plane touches down at the airport, you won’t have to worry about anything. All you have to do is enjoy and the foundation will take care of everything for you,” Herrera said.

She did not disclose Reyes’ illness.

Make-a-Wish Foundation has so far granted the wishes of close to 200 children on Guam and in the CNMI.

Any child from two and a half years to 18 years old with a life-threatening illness is eligible to make a wish.
