AXE – Choppers stuns Bulls; 40pt. game for Ratunil not enough for the Jaguar

Choppers started their against Bulls in a fast paced and better shooting percentage at the first half when they lead as much as 20 points. They then went on the third period with the same intensity until the final period in which they hand on to a one point, 92 – 91, to win the exciting game. Esguerra and Reyes led the scoring fray of the AXE – Choppers with 24 and 20 while Dennis Castro and Joeger Supnet dropped 29 and 15 for the losing Ilocandia Bulls.

In other game, Jerome Ratunil’s last game as a Jaguar player against team Surangel proved to be stellar when he posted a career high and season high of 40 points. However such feat was not an adequate amount to bring down the powerful Surangel and Sons. Arnold Undecimo and Deloy Pingot spoliled Ratunil’s chance to exit his team in a win as the two scattered 32 and 24 for the victory of Surangel with a final count of 107 – 94.

For other matches that Sunday, Western Union improved once more on team standings when they crushed team PDC – RAMS, 91 – 74, with Dela Cruz and Jacinto’s scoring of 21 and 19, respectively. Then HANPA – Cardinals beat Royal Cargo with a final tally of 86 – 72 courtesy of Perry Nulud’s 24 points output.

Ten teams fight for this year’s crown; the defending champions from Western Union, second runner up Rangers, third runner up Surangel and Sons, fourth place Jaguar, HANPA – Cardinals, Ilocandia – Bulls, PRA – Choppers, RAMS, and two new teams completes the list of participating team such as the Guardians and Royal Cargo.The Filipino Basketball League is supervised and organized by the Palau Basketball Federation.
