In July, television channel’s Russia’s My Planet, Russia 24, and Russia 1 and Russia 2 visited the islands of Saipan, Tinian and Rota on a 10-day location shoot that will be aired to millions of viewers. MVA assisted the tour with securing media permits and helping coordinate their visit.
“These programs will air in Russian in the fall, and we anticipate this will be good publicity at a time when Russians are planning their holiday travel,” said MVA marketing manager Bruce Bateman. “Dollar for dollar, assisting with this Russian media FAM was a good investment of MVA’s limited resources.”
“Most Russians travel through Korea to get to the Northern Marianas, and we hope increased demand will result in more airseats for them to get here,” said Bateman.
My Planet is the 24-hour Russian TV channel devoted to tourism and travel, reaching 15-million viewers. The channel targets top-managers ages 25 to 54 who are interested in traveling. It provides programs on traveling, tourism, science and history. The channel will produce two 26-minute shows featuring the Northern Marianas, which will premiere on a Saturday this fall and have at least 15 replays over three weeks.
Russia 24 airs 24-hour reports about current events of the world and has 80 million TV viewers. Films on tourist attractions go on the air on weekends and are rerun up to 5 times.
The state owned federal TV company, Russia 1, reaches more than 250 million viewers in 58 countries throughout the world. Their correspondents will make 2-3 minute taped reports for the program “Good morning, Russia!” from the Northern Marianas.
Russia 2 is another national TV channel with programs available to more than 100 million viewers of 80 regions of the Russian Federation. Films on tourist attractions of different countries are on the air weeknights and are rerun once on weekends.
