The Wings Travels’ reached their turning point in the game when Manolo Manalo, Ron Gamboa, and Jessie Mina successfully led the team above the Grillin’s by 54-59 during the third quarter. Manalo had trouble driving towards the basket at first, after being defensively fouled. This however, scored the Wings Travels an extra two points’ worth of free throws.

The Grillin’s had a good start during the first half after scoring 20-9 in the first quarter and 40-29 in the second quarter. Their offense began to slow down by the second half, after suffering from numerous turnovers from the Wings Travels.
The Wings Travels continued steadily with their offense in the fourth quarter, with Manalo and Mina still pushing the team beyond the Grillin’s. Manalo made the highest score for his team with a total of 21 points, following Grillins’ Lerio Pagarao who earned 27.
Satbahe crushes MGD, 100-73
THE Satbahes knocked the MGDs out of the Miller Lite Basketball League’s semifinals last Friday at Gualo Rai Court, after crushing them by 100-73.
The Satbahes started their path to victory in the second quarter, when they overthrew the MGDs from their lead.
Satbahe’s Andy Mortos and Rolly Paraiso were able to score a combined 12 points before the third quarter began. They were supported by Jaymar Torres and Budz Camacho who each scored two points, and Joemar Tengco, who made three.
The MGDs’ downfall was partially attributed to the several turnovers made by the Satbahes during the second half.
By mid-third quarter, the Satbahes secured a 10-point lead. They maintained their position above the MGDs during the fourth quarter, after taking advantage of the MGDs’ misses and declining defense.
The MGDs and Satbahes were scheduled to play right after the Grillin’s and Wings Travels last Thursday – however, their game was delayed due to rain and slight electrical problems from the court’s light posts.
The Grillin’s and Satbahes are set for their semifinals match tonight – the winner will then proceed to the finals round against the Wings Travels.
