This was the sentiment of council chairman Ramon B. Camacho after learning that his office was not involved in the Liberation Day preparations.
“Monetary wise we can’t help but we don’t have any problem with other way of showing our support,” he told Variety.
Frances Muna, the municipal council’s administrative officer, said they have already signified their “all-out support” for the mayor’s office “since day one.”
“The council is open and willing to work with the mayor,” she said.
But for many years now, she added, the mayor’s office and the council have not been working together on local events, especially on the Liberation Day program.
Council vice chairman Eric D. Diaz said he can be a member of any of the Liberation committee.
“We’re just waiting if they need our assistance,” he added.
Camacho said if Mayor Donald G. Flores “will only give us an open hand of invitation then we are more than willing to assist.”
He said he has nothing against the mayor.
“The reason why I ran for municipal council is to do local matters; Liberation Day is a local matter,” Camacho added.
He said he met Flores on several occasions and told the mayor that they should work together.
