These and other reasons may be behind the rising demand for new cars, according to Commonwealth Auto Dealers Association president and Joeten Motor Company general manager Matthew Deets.
The latest report from CADA indicated an increase of 83.87 percent or 57 brand new cars sold by the three car dealers last month compared to the 31 sold in March last year.
Since January, the three car dealers, Joeten Motors, Microl Corp. and Triple “J,” have posted a continuous increase in sales for brand new cars.
“I am happy to see the continued growth in sales through the first quarter. Last year there was a great deal of uncertainty in the market,” Deets said.
Last month, the three dealers sold 31 sedans, 7 trucks, 2 vans and 17 sport utility vehicles.
Microl Corp. led by selling 33 brand new cars which represent a 57.89 percent market share. Joeten Motors followed with 17 units sold, claiming 29.82 percent of the market share, while Triple “J” sold 7 brand new cars.
Toyota remains the consumer’s vehicle of choice last month with 33 units sold. Nissan followed with 11; Mazda, 4; Hyundai and Kia, 3 each; Honda 2; and Ford, 1.
CADA reported an 88.89 percent increase in sales for brand new cars in January, and a 103.57 percent increase in car sales in February compared to the first two months of 2009.
On a quarterly basis, a total of 182 brand new cars have been sold by the three car dealers and these comprised 91 sedans, 30 trucks, 4 vans, and 57 sport utility vehicles — an increase of 91.58 percent in sales compared to last year when dealers sold only 95 brand new cars for the first quarter.
The three dealers also sold 28 units of used cars last month. Joeten Motors took the lead with 13 sold, followed by Microl Corp. with 8, and Triple “J” with 7.
For the first quarter of the year, the dealers have already sold a total of 74 used cars — 34, Joeten Motors; 21, Microl Corp.; and 19, Triple “J” Motors.
Joeten Motors distributes Nissan, Ford, Honda and Kia. Microl Corp. sells Toyota and Chevrolet while Triple “J” Motors is the local dealer of Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki and Mazda.
