Guest worker advocate gets threats

Some have threatened to physically harm him, he added.

He has already informed the Department of Public Safety and  the Federal Bureau of Investigation about these threats.

“I am concerned  for the security of  my family,” he said.

He said he has been receiving calls from “restricted numbers” bad mouthing him.

The callers will always tell him to “go home,” he added.

Syed, who is also president of the Saipan City Taxi Association, said he has no quarrel with anyone.

“I believe there’s no personal issues involved here,” he added.

He believes that the threats against him have something to do with his advocacy on behalf of guest workers seeking improved immigration status.

But he said the threats and intimidation will not stop him from his responsibilities to his group members.

“I will continue to speak on behalf of the guest workers,” he added.
