Husband assaulted by wife for refusing to give money for poker

Ya Hong Bai Indalecio is being held on charges of disturbing the peace, assault and battery, and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Superior Court Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona imposed a $6,250 cash bail on Indalecio during her initial appearance yesterday.

She was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing.

Assistant Attorney General Jennifer Dockter represented the government while Assistant Public Defender Richard Miller was appointed as Indalecio’s counsel.

The victim, Antonio H. Indalecio, told Detective Peter A. Aldan that the defendant “is addicted to playing poker.”

Further investigation by Aldan revealed that the couple relied on the victim’s disability pension.

Both are unemployed, Aldan said.

On Tuesday, at about 2 p.m., Mrs. Indalecio asked money from her husband who refused, knowing his wife “is addicted to playing poker.”

“Antonio decided to ask Ya Hong for his bank card/ATM card and passport because [the victim] is afraid that [his wife] will take all the money and play it all on poker machines,” Aldan stated in his affidavit.

Mrs. Indelecio got mad, grabbed a broom stick, hit the floor until the broom was taken off the stick, and started hitting her husband, Aldan said.

The husband then ran out of their apartment. The wife hit her husband several times, Aldan said.

The husband went inside a store, where he used a phone to call 911.

The wife then followed inside, grabbed the phone from her husband, and hit him again with the broken broom stick, Aldan said.

The wife returned to their apartment while the husband remained inside the market until the police arrived and arrested the defendant.
