I knew that the federal government will do the right thing. U.S.A. wouldn’t be the land of opportunity for nothing. The reaction of locals is also understandable but do they really think they can change what is destined to happen — that the alien workers will soon have a better immigration status? They can either continue to challenge whatever Uncle Sam does or say or be realistic and work hand in hand with them. They might even get a better deal if they do that.
It is truly scary to think that some alien workers whom they have been treating as second class members of the community will eventually have the same rights as they have or worse, displace the locals. Reap what you sow. If you sow injustice and fear, that’s what you will also get.
I’m making an appeal to all the guest workers and our friends and families to join the motorcade and assembly this coming Sunday. I will be there with you in spirit and in prayers. Rejoice, because we already have the first glimpse of a dream coming to reality. This is what we’ve been working and praying for.
And while we’re all celebrating over this great development, my other request to the guest workers is to pray without ceasing for God’s will to happen smoothly and peacefully. I believe that there is less, if not, no more need for us to spend time in the streets. The feds have already heard us and they have all the information they need.
After the motorcade this Sunday, start spending your time to learn U.S. immigration law. You should also start preparing documents such authenticated copies of your birth certificates, marriage contracts, tax returns, etc that you might need later. Claim victory!
God bless the CNMI guest workers!
