Since 2007 we had been aggressively fighting such an injustice to include exposing the intent of foreign organizations, and non-profit organizations collaborating with federal agencies such as the federal ombudsman and he Department of the Interior. Then, we were labeled as being a racist group.
Today we all share a common goal and that is the protection of our cultural, and social well-being as Chamorros and Carolinians, TAOTAO TANO of the land.
I continue to address an important issue that we are in POLITICAL UNION with the United States for which was recognized by both parties in our COVENANT and that such an agreement must be adhered to its fullest intent especially when it came to consultations. Do any of you recall who were the undersecretaries of the Department of the Interior?
Allan Stayman, David Cohen and now Tony Babauta, a former Department of the Interior staff and a Chief of Staff to U.S. Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo of Guam, and a close ally to U.S. Virgin Islands Congresswoman Donna Christensen.
What do they have in common? They all pushed for federal control of our local immigration. They all support granting citizenship/permanent residency across the board to both legal and illegal aliens in our homeland regardless of whether they came to the CNMI under a temporary guest worker permit, for work only. These officials have 110 percent full concentration on foreigners on U.S. soil, and are ignoring the will of the people of the land who are United States citizens.
They are the main drafters of U.S. Public Law 110-229, and they forgot to consult our people who are United States citizens, to include bypassing our political union agreement as written in our Covenant.
CNMI senators and House members stand your ground and stay focused. Ignore all criticism for the future of our people. At stake are our future and our future generations.
