Anefal said another adjustment is being made to the memorandum of Oct. 4, 2011 on the observance of legal holidays during calendar year 2012, namely that of New Year’s Day.

He said in keeping with the spirit of the Christmas holiday season and pursuant to Title 1 of the Yap State Code, YSC 802(a), he “hereby declares Monday, January 2, 2012, to be a non-working holiday and to wish all state government employees and the people of the state of Yap an extended weekend of New Year’s Day celebration and relaxation.”

He added that with the exception of the select public service employees whose mandate require them to remain on duty, all offices of the state government will be closed after work on Friday, December 30, 2011, to be re-opened for official business the following Tuesday, January 3, 2012.

He concluded by saying “our best wishes for a joyful Merry Christmas and the most prosperous Happy New Year.”
