Triple J Enterprises representative Mike Sablan said they were very happy to fulfill their promise of having the project finished even earlier than the one-year time range they set.
Before a crowd of dignitaries and community members, Sandy Beach Homes member Juan Carlos Benitez gave a background and brief history of the project and how it came about.
Northern Marianas Housing Corp. director Joshua Sasamoto, CNMI construction manager Dan Murrell and Saipan Mayor Donald Flores also gave brief remarks.
In his message, Gov. Benigno R. Fitial said it was quite amazing that just one year ago, the same crowd was gathered at the same spot to break ground for the housing project.
“This project is one that is unprecedented, having been the CNMI’s first time to explore the low income housing tax credit program, truly a feat that has never been accomplished here in such a short span of time,” he added.
Fitial said the project stands to generate nearly $1 million in direct taxes alone while creating full time jobs.
The opening of Sandy Beach Homes is a timely gift to the CNMI in this holiday season, he said, adding that it is a “living testimony of the importance of collaboration between the government and the private sector.”
Black Micro Corp. senior vice president and general manager Leonard Kaae presented huge wooden keys to Triple J Enterprises senior vice president Jay Jones on behalf of his father Bob Jones who is in the states.
Guests took a tour of the housing units.
