DPS discusses drunk driving with Hopwood students

School principal Jonas Barcinas yesterday said the officers urged the students to remind family members not to drive while under the influence of alcohol.

“We want our students taking active role in preventing people from driving after consuming alcohol,” he told Variety.

During the DPS presentation, students watched a video about a car accident and a hit and run incident caused by drunk drivers.

“It is important that DPS sends these very important messages to the entire CNMI community so if ever someone intoxicated needs a ride they can call 911 for help,” Barcinas said.

The presenters were Police Officers Antonio Kaipat, Adrian Mendiola, Rudolpho Hermosila, Maverick Saures, Flora Aguon, Rudy Sablan, and Norris Kwon.

Over 300 students in grades seven and eight participated in the  3D Educational and Awareness Program.

Barcinas said the school administration and its staff were grateful for DPS Commissioner Ray Mafnas for implementing  programs that benefit the entire community.
