McDonald’s Saipan president and owner Joe Ayuyu, who took over the postal office and held a soft opening some weeks back said that they are happy to offer another service to the people of Saipan and the community surrounding the Dandan Postal Services location.
Dandan Postal Services has close to 1,000 mail boxes for personal and business use.
Ayuyu said that he was encouraged to open the Dandan Postal Services after learning that there are more or less 700 people in the wait-list for an available mailbox at the main US post office in Chalan Kanoa.
“We decided to fill a need for more mailboxes at a location that is convenient for many,” he said.
Ayuyu said that since their soft opening a couple of weeks ago, they already had a steady stream of clients who found the location very convenient. He said that they even had a client who came to pick up mail using a bicycle.
“Renting out a mailbox is very important especially if you want privacy and our location is very convenient for our clients because they don’t have to spend time and more gas money or ride their bicycle all the way to Chalan Kanoa or to other mailboxes,” Ayuyu said.
Opening the Dandan Postal Services has also generated additional jobs. Statistics in the US has shown that “Small businesses generate the most jobs in our economy, and with the economy in very bad shape here in the islands, the creation of more jobs is very important regardles of how many is created. We are happy to contribute to job creation even if it means creating only 2 jobs,” Ayuyu said.
