Paire ended first on the field after a shutout 3-0 win over MPU (15U girls).
Another MPU squad — led by Moris Villanueva — eliminated Matansa FC, 3-1 moments later.
Michael Lee delivered Paire’s last two goals eight minutes in the second half. With 10 minutes to go, MPU’s Amy Taylor drove in for the net but sent the ball bouncing off the post instead.
Paire took off to a one-point lead after Gideon Borja’s goal 20 minutes in the first half.
Matansa FC, who reached the semis on a 2-1 win against Paire (15U girls), finished with an empty second half versus MPU (12U). Both sides tied earlier after Villanueva and Jace Pineda’s first half goals.
Villanueva eked out extra points with Bada Lee to lift MPU (12U) to the championship. They eliminated Matansa (12U), 3-2 and Tan Holdings FC (15U girls), 9-0 to climb to the semifinals.
Paire defeated THFC (12U), 4-0 and Shirley’s FC, 4-0 before facing MPU (15U girls).
The finals round is set for Saturday, December 10 at HJHS.
Final Four almost complete in FA Challenge Cup
Meanwhile, the semifinals cast is almost complete for the 2011 FA Challenge Cup.
MP United-18UB and Matansa FC-18UB advanced to the semis on Saturday after routing Paire FC-W (11-1) and Shirley’s FC-W (3-2), respectively.
At the Oleai soccer field, Paire FC-15UB moved to the quarterfinals on a 3-2 victory over Tan Holdings FC-15UB.
MP United-15U Blue also defeated Matansa FC-15UB, 3-1.
This Saturday’s games between Paire FC-18UB and MPU-15U Blue and Paire FC-15UB and MPU-15UB Silver will complete the final four.
