Both Dennis Cruz and pitcher Perry Besong went 3-for-4 with the latter capping off on an RBI single in the top of the sixth.
Team Toro went empty in the first three innings and ended their drought on Estevan Florencio’s run-scoring single.
The City Boys clinched an eight-run lead by the bottom of the fourth and thrived on a four-run fifth inning to seal the game.
Toro spiraled down to nine losses and has yet to win this season The City Boys however, improved to a 6-3 record. Peleliu remains on top of the standings with 8-1 while Red Man and Docomo Pacific have 6-3 and 5-4, respectively.
Besong struck out four, walked one and allowed two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Paul Camacho went 3-for-4 to bolster the City Boys’ offense on one double, two singles, and one run.
Peleliu 15, Docomo 14
In Sunday’s first game, team Peleliu grabbed their eighth win on a walk off 15-14 victory over second-ranked Docomo.
Ben Duenas, who went 2-for-6, delivered a two-run double and drove Leo Bobai and Poland Masaharu home to end their nine inning match-up.
Docomo had earlier tied the game, 11-11 at the top of the sixth after Bill Aguon’s RBI single. They added one run in the eighth inning but quickly lost the lead on Duenas’ run in the bottom of the frame. Both Aguon and John Tomokane hit run-scoring singles to lift Docomo, 14-12 at the top of the ninth.
Peleliu grew momentum after Bobai’s RBI single and finished on Duenas’ game-winning hit. Center fielder Mabel Ngireng went 3-for-4 with two singles and a run. Bobai, Poland, and Darwin Masaharu each posted two runs.
So far, Peleliu has only lost to Red Man this season.
Red Man 9, One Vision 6
Dave Kapileo went 3-for-3 and hit a homerun to lift Red Man over One Vision, 9-6 in a following game.
Kapileo’s homer snapped their 6-6 deadlock and Ben Higgins squeezed in a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth.
One Vision collapsed after three straight fly balls in the seventh inning.
Red Man clung to a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the first and went empty between the second and fourth innings before adding a run from Otes Okerlil. Payton Sakuma went 2-for-3 on two singles while Red Iskawa, Lefty Shiro, Ernest Kanai, and Higgins scored one run apiece.
One Vision declined to eight losses and holds only one win.
