Commonwealth Cancer Association seeks new program manager

So described Tina Sablan about her time as the Commonwealth Cancer Association’s program manager during the last 18 months.

Hiring a new program manager was one of the agenda items on CCA’s board of directors agenda on Monday and they expect to start advertising the open position beginning this week.

Although Sablan’s contract ends in March, she will vacate the position once a new PM is hired and trained in order to focus full-time on her position as co-anchor of KSPN Channel 2 news.

“CCA is an amazing organization and I would encourage anyone interested in community outreach and education to apply for the position.”

Sablan said the next PM should expect to be creative, flexible and should take advantage of the vast knowledge of the board and volunteers who have been with the effort for a decade.

CCA was formed as an official non-profit in 2009 and secured two grants totaling $23,000 from the Pacific Center of Excellence in the Elimination of Disparities and the TakeCare Foundation.

All other money used to support the association and its activities is raised locally from the community such as the annual Marianas March Against Caner.

“MMAC is one of the best events of the year and I’ll see everybody there,” said Sablan.

For more information on the association visit ccamarianas.org/ or attend CCA’s annual general meeting scheduled for Jan. 31, 2012 at 6 p.m. at its Gualo Rai Plaza office.
