Chamber hosts 57 senior students for career exploration

Chamber executive director Richard A. Pierce said that the students will be joining the monthly general membership meeting which will be held at the Fiesta Resort & Spa Hotel at 11:30 a.m. today.

The students are the participants of the Chamber’s Sixth Annual Student Career Exploration Day who will be spending the day “shadowing” employees at private-sector businesses.

For the past years, the Chamber has been initiating the Student Career Exploration Day to give the junior and senior students a chance to experience a ‘day in the life’ of a public or private business.

For the day, the students will “shadow” employees and owners of Chamber-member companies in various positions for work experiences from hotel manager, sales and marketing, accountant, executive assistant, IT manager, baker, food and beverage director, bank teller, bank officer and more positions.

Membership meeting

Today’s guest at the Chamber membership meeting will be the newly appointed and confirmed chief executive officer for the Commonwealth Health Care Corporation, Juan N. Babauta.

Pierce said that Babauta’s presentation will focus on what will be accomplished as a result of the creation of the health care corporation.

Pierce added that as a special treat, a seasonal mystery guest will be introduced to the audience after the students are introduced.

Luncheon is $15 for Chamber members. Guests and non-members of the Chamber are charged $20.
