Back to back victories for Umang Glee Club

On Thursday last week, the Umang Glee Club impressed the audience with their lively performances at the Paseo de Marianas during the announcement and awarding of the winners of the Christmas tree decorating contest. The group also performed at the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Hyatt Regency Saipan early this month.

For the Pistang Pinoy lantern contest Saipan Building and Fixing Computer User’s Group won first place. Roselyn Bastareche was awarded second prize while Mercy Rollon placed third.

Leonard Manuel Alla is this year’s winner in the individual singing contest. Second place went to Lizelle Salanga while Lawrence Tubiera won third prize.

Donnel Isip topped the individual singing contest in the adult category.

Paskong Pinoy 2011 featured entertainment and lots of food from different vendors.

Also sold were bags, fashion jewelry, clothes, shoes and other items.

The event started at 4:30 p.m. and ended at 9:45 p.m. Among the performers were Gloria Dei Choir, San Vicente Elementary School, Cornerstone Performing Arts Group, J Mix Dancers, Nikki Canape & the M2 One Kids Band, Bayani Association Dance Group with Kid’s Legacy, Vox Angelics Choir, LiL Hands School of Music and Pink Kids.

United Filipino Organization president Bong Malasarte and Olive Yana, 2011 Paskong Pinoy program co-chairs extended their gratitude to all the major sponsors, the Philippine Consulate General’s Office, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, CNMI government, Lt. Gov. Eloy Inos, vendors, volunteer performers, and everyone else who helped made the event a successful celebration.

The event hosts were Ulysses T. Sabuco and Annamae Adaza.
