5th Trunk or Treat at American Memorial Park today

U.S. Park Ranger Susan Fishman-Tudor said  she hopes the students will go directly to the park after school and enjoy the treats and activities prepared for this annual event.

Last year, over 3,000 children came to the park for “trunk or treat.”

Fishman-Tudor said there are many companies and government agencies that will join the event for the first time today.

Pacific Winds, the Manta Ray Band and other groups will provide music and entertainment throughout the afternoon.

“We urge the individuals and organizations that will be joining trunk or treat to be in the parking lot early so they can prepare their stalls and car trunks by 3 p.m. because the children are expected to come in at 4 p.m.,” Fishman-Tudor said.

A special dinner for four at a local restaurant will be given to the best decorated trunk.

“This event is an opportunity for CNMI families to gather in a safe place for trick-or-treating,” Fishman-Tudor said.

This year’s theme is “Recyghoul Material” and all costumes and vehicle decorations should be made of recycled materials.

“Spooky” movies about Frankenstein, Dracula and other scary  characters will be shown at the American Memorial Park theater starting at 2 p.m.

“We have a lot of spooky movies to enjoy so come early and have fun,” Fishman-Tudor said.

Participating companies and individuals will be providing their own treats. Alcoholic beverages and fires of any kind are prohibited.
