Community urged to use recycled materials for Trunk or Treat decoration

U.S. Park Ranger Susan Fishman-Tudor said she wants everybody to be “one” with this year’s theme is “Recy-ghoul Material” and costumes and vehicle decorations should be made of recycled materials.

Fishman-Tudor said a special prize is at stake for the best decorated car trunk.

“The Trunk or Treat is on a Monday afternoon, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and children are already out of school for the day. They can just come straight to American Memorial Park and join us in the Halloween fun,” Fishman-Tudor said.

She said  they already received confirmation from several organizations and agencies that will be installing booths or decorating their car trunks for the event. 30 to 40 slots available.

The event is an opportunity for CNMI families to gather in a safe place for trick-or-treating.

“We invite the car owners to be in the parking lot by 2 p.m. and they can start decorating and be prepared when the kids come,” Fishman-Tudor said.

Participants can park their vehicles in the lot and open their trunks to give out candy and other Halloween goodies.

“Participants must provide their own goodies, and we encourage everyone to bring more. There never were enough candies for the kids — we always run out,” she said.  Alcoholic beverages and fires of any kind are prohibited.

Spooky films will be shown for free at the Visitor Center.

“We haven’t chosen the films yet but we’re going to show funny and scary movies,” Fishman-Tudor said.

“Come and join us in the fun and entertainment and listen to music which will be provided by the Pacific Winds/Manta Ray Orchestras,” she added.

Interested companies, organizations, families, and groups who want to participate can contact Fishman-Tudor at 234-7207 or -2020 or fax 234-7211.
