THE Unified Mayors of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands extend their heartfelt congratulations to Angel A. Demapan on his appointment as deputy assistant secretary for insular and international affairs of the U.S. Department of the Interior. His appointment is a proud moment for the CNMI and a significant achievement for one of our own to reach such a distinguished position.

As a proud son of the CNMI, Demapan’s appointment represents not only a personal success but also a vital opportunity to advance the interests of the CNMI and U.S. territories as a whole.

“With his extensive experience and unwavering dedication to the people of our islands, we are confident that he will serve as an effective advocate for the needs and concerns of the territories, particularly in securing critical resources and policies that address the unique challenges faced by insular areas,” the CNMI mayors said.

The appointment comes at a time when U.S. territories continue to face resource limitations that can make it difficult to meet the needs of our communities.

Demapan’s leadership will provide the CNMI and other territories with a strong voice in Washington, D.C., ensuring that our islands are not overlooked and that the resources necessary for growth and prosperity are made available.

The unified mayors would like to express our gratitude to U.S. Congresswoman Kimberlyn King- Hinds, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and President Donald J. Trump for their confidence in Demapan. Their support in appointing him to this pivotal position demonstrates a shared commitment to the strength and future of not just the CNMI and U.S. territories, but to the United States as a whole.

“We, the Unified Mayors of the CNMI, stand united in our support for Mr. Demapan, and we look forward to the positive contributions he will bring to the future of the United States, its territories, and all communities across this great nation. His appointment is a milestone for the CNMI, and we are proud to have him represent our people at the highest levels of government.”
