Labor attaché Carmelina R. Francisco Velasquez said because of the big turnout they have to limit the number of enrollees to 70.
The course started on Sept. 3 and will end on Oct. 8. The class starts at 2 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Filipino Workers Resource Center on the ground floor of the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.
“They enrolled so they could use their new skills for a part-time job,” Velasquez said. “They also wanted to learn how to fix their own air-con units.”
The instructor is James Abuy, the Pacific Islands Club air-conditioning technician.
On the last day of the training, Velasquez said, they will include the three-hour business management seminar to be conducted by Jun Banadera.
The training for the second batch of enrollees will be held from Nov. 5 to Nov. 19 every Saturday, 9 a.m. .to 5 p.m., except on Nov. 19 when the class will be start at 9 a.m. and end at 12 noon.
The other skills upgrading and livelihood courses for the last quarter of 2011 include Basic Computer Operations 1 for Batch 54 which will be offered on six Sundays from Oct. 16 to Nov. 20, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with Zaldy P. Quebral and Marilyn D. Quebral as course instructors, and Fruit and Vegetable Carving for Batch 3, which will be held on four Saturdays from Oct. 1 to 22, 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with Eduardo M. Elenzano as the instructor.
Philippine Consul General Medardo Macaraig said all courses will have a business management seminar component.
Slots will be on a first-come, first- served basis.
Applicants are requested to bring their umbrella permit, passport and one ID picture.
