Manacop, Omechelang clinch 3rd monthly titles

The pair drew the highest scores since their recent win in July, with Manacop leading the men’s division at 846 pinfalls. Omechelang scored 706, averaging 176.5 per game. Both bowlers also topped the list last March, beating Linda Yarobwemal and Raphael Zapanta.

Manacop bested his record from July, where he posted 830 to beat Raymond Zapanta. Percy Omechelang trailed the champion this month and grabbed 748 pinfalls followed by Robert Talavera with 745.

Manacop drew his best score in game two last Saturday, where he gained 255 pinfalls — the highest scored in a game this weekend. He ended game one with 220 pinfalls but dropped to 149 by game three. The October king capped game four at 222 for a 211.5 average. Percy Omechelang, husband of Gloria, earned the second best average at 187 pins per game. He scored 179, 208, 142, and 219 in games one to four.

Talavera, who last won in August with Ron Cal, garnered 745 pinfalls for a third place finish. He didn’t surpass the 200-mark until game four, where he posted 217. Talavera scored 191, 162, and 175 in games one to three.

In the women’s division, Carol Mckenzie followed Gloria Omechelang at 650 pinfalls. January winner Yho Villavicencio settled for third after notching 640 pins.

Mckenzie came closest to the title in June, where she earned 638 to rank second. The ladies’ first runner up fell short to Omechelang, 153-193 in game one and 158-189 by game three. Mckenzie garnered 158 and 181 pinfalls in games two and four, respectively.

Villavicencio averaged 160 pinfalls and scored 166, 174, 154, and 146 on Saturday.

Mckenzie breaks Aldan’s winning streak

In the Fiji Water Monthly Prince or Princess of the Lanes, Marion Mckenzie ended MJ Aldan’s two-win streak after scoring 730 pinfalls.

Aldan rallied for second place, beating third-ranked John Taisacan with 656 pinfalls. Aldan had earlier taken the September and August titles after Mckenzie’s last victory in July.

Mckenzie tallied 179, 176, 171, and 204 to average 182.5 pins per game. Aldan, who had a 164 average, recorded 165, 136, 144, and 211.

Taisacan trailed Aldan with 619 pinfalls overall. Completing the list were Nikko Gutierrez (464 pinfalls), Ryan Batac (408), and lone female junior bowler Madeleine Taisacan (312).
