A bench warrant for Saluta’s arrest is still active for his failure to attend his sentencing hearing last August.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement accompanied Saluta “under escort” to the Philippines on Aug. 17, 2011, a day after his scheduled sentencing hearing in Superior Court.
Last May, jurors convicted Saluta of assault with a dangerous weapon while Naraja found Saluta guilty of disturbing the peace.
The current situation of Saluta’s wife, a former garment worker, and their five young children was unknown as of press time yesterday.
