Twins Supermarket turns 4 today

Twins Supermarket owner Lanlan Wang told the Variety yesterday that they started offering marked down prices on a lot of grocery supplies and more items since August 26.

“Our promotional prices will continue until September 10, and we are inviting the community to come and avail of our low-priced goods as our way of saying thank you to our customers who had been supporting us since day one,” Wang said.

During the two-week promo period, Wang said that they are giving away lots of items like umbrellas, t-shirts and more for customers who make purchases of $50 and up.

“These giveaways came from our suppliers and we would like to share them with our customers,” Wang said.

Twins Supermarket carries a complete line of grocery items, fresh food and non-food items at very affordable prices. Visit the stores’ well-stocked shelves for your supplies of canned goods, beverages, fresh and frozen meat products, fresh produce, fresh vegetables, bath and baby supplies, kitchenware, snacks and food items, fresh breads, rice, non-food and more grocery items.

Wang said that they can lower the prices of their merchandise because they mostly carry their own.

“We have two full containers from the Philippines and two from the mainland coming in every month so we can assure our customers that our merchandise is always fresh and new,” she said.

Twins Supermarket is now also offering wholesale in rice, food and non-food products and will do deliveries to hotels, restaurants and other establishments on island.

Wang said that they are also planning to offer weekend promotions very soon.

“This is in the plan. We will be marking down prices of our goods on Friday, Saturday and Sunday especially during payday weekends,” she said.

“We will return the favor to you because if not for you, we wouldn’t have been here today,” Wang added.

Rewind

Wang said that she and her husband started the grocery business and opened the branch in Dandan on September 1, 2007 without any knowledge of how to operate a grocery store.

“We had a very difficult time then because we started from scratch, but we learned and improved our business every day until we branched out and expanded in Lower Navy Hill,” Wang said.

Wang said they started the business with six employees. Four years later, Twin’s Market’s employees are now 26.

Wang said she and her husband owe the success of their business to the community that continues to patronize their products, and to the efficient employees who have stayed with them through these years.

Like all other businesses on island, Wang said they are also struggling with the increasing costs of fuel and utilities but they are still surviving.

“Sometimes it is so hard to tell customers why we have to raise the prices of some of our goods, but we are helpless and left with no choice,” Wang said.

“I hope the cost of power and fuel will go down and the economy will get better. I will stay on Saipan for as long as business will survive because I love this place and the people,” she added.

Twins Market is named after the couple’s twin six-year-old daughters Angel Lin and Betty Shan.

The Twins Market Lower Navy Hill branch is open from 6 a.m. to 12 midnight every day while the Dandan branch remains open 24 hours a day. All major credit cards and food stamps are accepted.
