Letter to the Editor: Another pipe dream

People are very desperate already but their leaders can come up with a more desperate  idea that will hurt the public they’re supposed to protect.

This is another pipe dream that can further ruin the CNMI.

Our Northern Islands may be tiny, but they have abundant food, native medicines and other natural resources that can help our people.

As a little boy, I used to know a fisherman and hunter in the Northern Islands whose family never went hungry. He once told me: “You can be a good example and stand up for your rights or you can be a bad example and let others tell you how to run your life.”

I took his words of advice seriously.

In the Northern Islands, you can survive without money if you are well-prepared, organized, efficient and effective, and if you treat with fairness and respect other people.

If our ancestors were alive today they would tell our leaders: “You guys are out of your minds to lease our lands to the Chinese.”

I say get your moral and ethical obligations in order and stop this monkey business. Wake up! This is about our way of living which is in harmony with mother nature and father sky.
