Senator urges NMI Bar to probe AG

Cruz, R-Tinian and chairman of the Senate Committee on Executive Appointments and Government Investigations, told the Bar’s disciplinary committee chairman Timothy H. Bellas that the Senate “is very concerned about this matter.”

Cruz said AG Edward Buckingham violated his oath of office, the American Bar Association Model of Professional Conduct, and CNMI laws and regulations for approving former Commerce Secretary Michael Ada’s $392,406  sole-source contract awarded by the governor.

The Senate last week adopted  S.R. 17-62 urging the CNMI Bar to investigate Buckingham for ethical violations.
