The recruitment has taken a lot longer than anticipated, CUC Deputy Executive Director Alan W. Fletcher said.
“Unfortunately, due to the scope of the position, the skill-set and experience level are exacting, and while we have reviewed a number of applicants, only a few have been selected for follow up,” he said.
Fletcher said CUC has been working with Sherman Pacific, a professional recruitment firm, to screen candidates.
Recently, he added CUC has held interviews with 10 candidates that met the minimum qualifications for the position.
“Each candidate is also vetted through [the Environmental Protection Agency] and to assist in that process, CUC is working with finalists to provide specific experience related information that was requested by EPA as well as arranging for on-site interviews,” he said.
A formal submission of the potential “short list” of candidates is in progress, he said, adding that CUC is confident that each candidate adequately possesses the experience, knowledge and understanding of the position and its challenges.
“CUC is committed to filling the position expeditiously, but most importantly with the most qualified candidate and we are poised to seek a broader pool if the current candidates do not pan out,” he told Variety.
Fletcher said the position’s duties are currently being handled by Venu Prabhakara and Max Simeon, two members of CUC’s technical and professional team in the power generation business unit.
While the two have performed admirably, their additional duties mean a lot more work for them who are already carrying a heavy workload, he added.
