Superior Court Judge Kenneth L. Govendo reduced to $1,500 the $10,000 bail earlier imposed on Alfonso Kintin, 34, and Nelson Anson Saimon, 24.
Kintin and Saimon appeared before Govendo for their bail hearing yesterday morning.
They were remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after they failed to post bail.
Assistant Attorney General Shelli Neal represented the government while Assistant Public Defender Matthew Meyer was appointed counsel for the accused.
Detective Catherine Pangelinan said DPS received a disturbance call at about 11:37 p.m. last Thursday in front of the hotel.
A witness pointed to a victim who was seen by responding officers with blood all over his nose and his cheeks. His upper lips were swollen.
The victim told police he did not do anything wrong, and it was Kintin who was drunk and was looking for a fight.
Police said Kintin was earlier seen shouting at the victim telling him that he was an embarrassment to his race “because he always eats out of the trash can.” Kintin suddenly attacked the victim, police said.
The victim told police he did not know what Kintin’s problem was, “but every time he walks by, [the defendants] would shout or tease him for no reason.”
A witness told police Kintin choked the victim and punched the victim twice on the back of his head.
The victim struggled to break free, but Saimon then punched the victim’s face several times, police said.
