October sales for new cars up by 16.67%

The latest report from the Commonwealth Auto Dealers Association showed that the CNMI’s three car dealers sold a total of 42 brand new vehicles last month compared to 36 in Oct. 2010.

Sold last month were 27 sedans, 4 trucks, 3 vans and 8 sport utility vehicles.

Toyota remains  the brand of choice among consumers, selling 20 units last month. Nissan followed with 7, Hyundai 6, Ford 5, Mazda 2 units, and Kia and Honda with 1 each.

Microl Corp. topped last month’s sales in brand new vehicles with 20 units sold representing 47.62 percent of the market share, followed by Joeten Motors with 14  or 33.33 percent of the market share, and Triple J Motors with 8 or 19.05 percent share of the market.

From January to October, the three car dealers  sold a total of 362 brand new vehicles — a decline of 27.45 percent compared to the 499 sold for the same 10-month period last year.

The brand new vehicles sold from January to October comprised  191 sedans, 75 trucks, 31 vans, 100 sport utility vehicles, and 5 “others.”

Microl Corp. is the leader in sales for brand new vehicles for the first 10 months of 2011 with 140  sold. Joeten Motors followed with 130 while Triple J Motors had 92.

Sales for used vehicles continue to increase. Last month, the three car dealers sold 27 used cars. Triple J Motors sold 11, Microl Corp. 9, and Joeten Motors 7 units.

From January to October, they sold a total of 233 used vehicles. Triple J Motors sold the most with 91, representing 39.1 percent of the market share, Microl Corp. sold 82 or 35.2 percent of the market while Joeten Motors sold 60 or 25.8 percent share of the market.

Joeten Motors distributes Nissan, Ford, Honda, Kia and other car brands; Microl Corp. sells Toyota and Chevrolet; while Triple J Motors is the local dealer of Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Suzuki, Mazda and other brands.
