Weekend all set for TOC

The TOC will be held at the Lao Lao Bay Golf and Resort East and West Course.

Showtime is at 6:00 a.m., while shotgun start is at 7:00 a.m.

The two-day tournament will feature over $400,000 worth of prizes, including hole-in-one prizes amounting to $50,000 on both the East and West course courtesy of AON, two brand new cars from Joeten Motors and Triple J Motors, two Delta Air Lines BusinessElite tickets to anywhere in the U.S. or Canada, and a $25,000 hole-in-one prize from the Bank of Hawaii. In addition, $1,000 and a free year of golf will be awarded to the closest to the pin winners.

According to TOC tournament director Ben Babauta, over 200 golfers are expected at the event, including off-island players.

“There will be high caliber golfers from Japan, South Korea, and Guam,” Babauta told Variety.

He said there will be eight golfers from Japan, two from South Korea, and 24 to compete from Guam.

In the Men’s Open, winners in the Championship, A, B, C, Seniors, and Super Seniors flights will receive $600 cash for topping their respective fields, $500 for placing second, $400 for third, a digital camera for fourth, and fifth placers will receive a $100 Duty Free Shop gift certificate.

The Ladies’ low-gross flight winners will receive $600 for first, $500 for second, and $400 for third place.

The three best Ladies’ low-net competitors will be awarded trophies.

In 2010, Geon Ju Lee of Korea won the Men’s Championship Flight, while Jin Woo Park and Bae Young Man were playing for second and third. In the A Flight, Xian Lai Cui topped the flight while Nathan Zhao and Tars Olopai placed second and third, respectively.  In the B flight, Young Woo Lee won the scorecard tiebreak over Prescil D. Azarcon and Hyoung Kim Il was third.   Eun Sam Cui won the C flight and Danny Quitugua had a second place finish with Takashi Nakata placing third.

Tony Satur topped the Senior flight with Edward Manibusan and Vic Borja tied.  Manibusan was awarded 2nd place by scorecard tiebreak and Borja third.  In the Super Senior Flight, Duke Yoo won first, Bill Garris was second and Jesus M. Taitano was third.

In the Ladies’ Flight, Leina D. Kim won low gross followed by Noriko Togawa and Jung Yoom Kim. In the Ladies Low Net, Young Hee Yoo came in first while I Sun Park placed second and Sherlyn P. Jones settled for third.

“I invite the general public to watch Day 1 and 2 of the TOC, where you can watch off-island players go head-to-head against local players from around the commonwealth,” Babauta added.
