WSR students hold walkathon fundraiser

WSR’s 830 students formed one massive circle around the field in a steady stream of walkers that paused occasionally for water and a few minutes of shade.

During breaks, the Diabetes Prevention Awareness and the “I love my tobacco-free CNMI” programs interacted with the kids to reinforce the Public School System’s health education curriculum that covers the dangers of high sugar levels and tobacco use.

Janice Tenorio, WSR’s PTA chair, beamed about the event’s success and the generous support received from the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., First Hawaiian Bank, D&Q Saipan, Toothworks, Pacific Islands Club, Seventh Day Adventist, Early Childhood Early Childhood Comprehensive System Partners, Diabetes Prevention Awareness and “I love my tobacco-free CNMI” programs.

“The kids are having a blast and are really excited about our first walkathon fundraiser…a big thank you to our sponsors for supporting the kids in learning about healthy life choices.”
