UOG announced it will soon be launching a master of education with a specialization in reading program. Although the school offers several individual online courses, this is the first full online degree program to be offered to the public.
The online curriculum was designed by Catherine Stoicovy, PhD, a faculty member of the School of Education. The program successfully passed the Western Association of Schools and Colleges approval process.
According to a UOG press release, students are being recruited this fall and the program will begin in Spring 2012.
“This is fantastic news for the university, for students on Guam, and throughout the region,” said UOG President Robert A. Underwood in the release.
“When we launch the program in January of 2012, it will be an auspicious beginning to our 60th anniversary celebration which begins in 2012 and underscores the progress we have made as an institution over the last six decades.”
