Nola Hix, committee member of the Operation CNMI Homefront Support, said this is the second time for SSHS to donate items for the care packages.
Hix said the school also conducted a food drive last year.
“The items the school donated were those pre-selected by Operation Homefront that consisted of canned goods like tuna, Vienna sausage, corn beef, and Spam, Bowl Noodle Soup, and Sapporo Ichiban,” Hix said.
The SSHS National Honor Society will also be on standby this Saturday, Nov. 26, to help pack the boxes for the troops at the multi-purpose center.
The SSHS Honor Society and their teacher/advisor Arisa Sakai also helped last year.
For her part, Marianas Variety president Laila Y. Boyer turned over 500 copies of the newspaper to Operation CNMI Homefront Support committee member Kennedy Benjamin at the MV office in Garapan.
The newspapers will be included along with the other items in the care packages.
Operation CNMI Homefront Support coordinator Geri Willis is again calling on families who haven’t submitted names, branch of service and full mailing address of relatives and family members deployed abroad to do so within the next few days so they can receive care packages from the CNMI in time for Christmas.
Donations are still accepted at the donation boxes at Joeten Susupe, Triple J Super Fresh Market, Fleming’s Market on Tinian, student center and the president’s office at Northern Marianas College.
