Guam to lobby for visa waiver

The tourism industry wants to get the ball rolling in Washington D.C. to push for the inclusion of China and Russia into the Guam-CNMI visa waiver program.

The Guam Visitors Bureau,  in partnership with the Guam Chamber of Commerce, is working with Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo’s Guam and Washington D.C. office to set up meetings with top officials from the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense.

GVB Chairman Monte Mesa, in a telephone interview with the Variety, said the trip is pending confirmation of appointments being arranged with top Defense officials in the Pentagon and top officials from DHS in Washington D.C.

Mesa said the travel date would be the week of Nov. 14 through the 18th or before officials go on their holiday break.

Guam Chamber of Commerce Chairman Kaleo Moylan confirmed: “We’re putting together a joint committee to…do a D.C. door-knock on the China-Russia visa waiver program.”
