DCCA gets $330K for Aging Office

DCCA Secretary Melvin  Faisao, in an email, said the  funding came after the CNMI’s state plan application for fiscal year 2011 was approved.

Previously, Faisao said the grantor decreased the funding by $100,000 due to the lack of a new federal budget.

The grant, Faisao said, is “primarily utilized for the salary of the qualified participants” in the Office of Aging.

U.S. Labor, he added, also approved the CNMI’s request to spend last fiscal year’s remaining fund amounting to  $150,000.

Faisao  vowed to prioritize a work plan to address recruitment procedures and place qualified participants in the program “to ensure that they are able to perform the job.”

The CNMI government, he added, will develop an “alternative approach” so the program will not be affected by the continuing resolution status in Washington, D.C.
