The CHL Training Program is designed to provide 22 promising undergraduate and graduate students in the Pacific Region, including the CNMI, with financial aid to pursue their studies to specified programs at the University of Alaska (Fairbanks and Anchorage), University of Hawaii at Manoa, Windward Community College, Kapi’olani Community College, or the University of Guam.
Unique to the program is the opportunity for students to complement their degree with additional training in research, outreach and other approaches related to preventing childhood obesity in the Pacific region.
Applicants should be a resident of a jurisdiction included in CHL (i.e., Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Republic of Palau, and the Federated States of Micronesia) and must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, U.S. greencard holder, or a citizen of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, or the Republic of Palau.
Students who are indigenous/native to the jurisdictions noted above are encouraged to apply.
Further, applicants must apply to, or be currently enrolled in, a CHL-approved degree program to be eligible for admission into the CHL Training Program. Since the CHL Training Program is conducted within existing degree programs, applicants must meet all the admissions requirements of the degree program to which they are applying, as well as additional admission criteria imposed by CHL.
The CHL Training Program is accepting applicants for Fall 2012 admission.
Applications to the CHL Training Program are due to CNMI Lead Site Co-I Dr. Jang Ho Kim by December 30, 2011.
