Local student accepted to national scholars group

The group’s chairman Claes Nobel said in a press statement on Wednesday that Midori “is now a member of a unique community of scholars — a community that represents our very best hope for the future.”

For his part, NSHSS President James Lewis said “Our vision is to build a dynamic international organization that connects members with meaningful content, resources, and opportunities. We aim to help students like Midori build on their academic successes and enhance the skills and desires to have a positive impact on the global community.”

Membership entitles qualified students to enjoy a wide variety of benefits, including scholarship opportunities, academic competitions, free events, member-only resources, publications, participation in programs offered by educational partners, online forums, personalized recognition items, and publicity honors.

Currently, there are more than 530,000 Society members in over 160 countries. NSHSS provides scholarship opportunities for deserving young people.

Midori’s mother Victoria in a telephone interview said her daughter is very responsible and disciplined.

“She knows her priorities and education is on top of her list. There are days when she had to sleep late because she was focused on her study,” she said.

“I’m so happy and proud of her and her many achievements,” said Victoria, a science teacher at Hopwood Junior High School.
