LAHAINA, Maui (BoH) — Bank of Hawai‘i marked the grand opening of its new Lahaina Branch on Maui with a private blessing ceremony and a donation of $100,000 to provide support to Lahaina residents who are at risk of losing their homes to foreclosure. This grant from Bank of Hawai‘i Foundation to Holomua Collective was amplified with a $150,000 match from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, amounting to $250,000.
Bank of Hawai‘i’s new Lahaina Branch marks a return to the community it has proudly served for nearly a century — beginning with its first branch in the area on Front Street in 1930. Its previous location on Papalaua Street was destroyed in the 2023 wildfires. The new 3,400-square-foot branch features the bank’s signature Branch of Tomorrow concept, including innovative features designed for flexible customer experiences, such as a technology-focused Teller Bar, Pili Rooms for private consultations and a Banklana with 24/7 ATM and Business Depository. Interior touches reflect the community and its unique history.
“We are thrilled to open our new Lahaina Branch, bringing us back to this cherished town. This Branch of Tomorrow reflects our commitment to the people of Lahaina and honors nearly a century of history and Bank of Hawai‘i Opens Newest Branch of Tomorrow in Lahaina, and its Foundation Donates $100,000 to Support Residents connection with the town. We look forward to continuing our legacy of giving back and serving our customers with dedication and aloha,” said Peter Ho, chairman and CEO of Bank of Hawai‘i.
Bank of Hawai‘i has donated over $1.3 million for a variety of relief efforts to support the Lahaina community. Some of its Foundation’s previous contributions include a $100,000 donation to Hawai‘i Community Lending for the Lahaina Homeowner Recovery Program, which received a 3:1 match from FHLB and resulted in $400,000 for Lahaina residents. Bank of Hawai‘i Foundation contributed $100,000 to Hawai‘i Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund, and BOH branch locations collected nearly $500,000 while serving as donation points for the Hawaii Bankers Association’s effort to support the campaign.
The Lahaina Branch is located at the Lahaina Cannery Mall and open six days a week.
