DYS conducts Parent Anonymous Facilitators Training

Parents Anonymous, Inc.  is a national organization dedicated to prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect by strengthening families all around the world.  DYS spearheads this organization in the CNMI.  Parents enrolled in the program meet weekly in a support group to share common concerns and challenges as parents.  It is free of charge to participants.

Professional development

In related news, DYS held its semi-annual Professional Development Training at the Pacific Islands Club on Oct. 12-14.

Presentors included DYS staff, CNMI Attorney General Edward Buckingham, Frank Gibson from the Human Resources Support, Angie Cepeda, Amanda Angel and Les Uludong from  Northern Marianas College-Community Development Institute.

The main topics included DYS’ Strategic Plans for Fiscal Year 2012, Victim Rights and Services, Leadership and Management, Sexual Harassment in the Workplace, Team-building Skills, and Communication Skills.

The training was part of DYS’ continuous effort to provide quality services to its consumers and the community by enhancing the knowledge, expertise, and skills of its personnel.

The training was funded by the Community Services & Social Services Block Grants.
