Malaria fluctuate in Solomon Islands

That’s according to Doris Niu of Honiara City Council Malaria Monitoring  and Evaluation Office.

She said in March, April, and May record for malaria in Honiara was very low of malaria.

“This is because the malaria spray team were visiting communities to spray homes,” she said. “But since our spray teams had stopped during the month of August malaria had recorded an increase.”

Niu said in September the record dropped. She said in the previous month the increase was related to high rainfall and flooding affecting the city.

Niu encouraged families to maintain cleanliness inside and outside of the homes to avoiding a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
